Snatch Block Assembly of EOT.
Designing of the parts for Snatch Block assembly of Electric Overhead Travelling crane for lifting a load of 150 KN, hoisting speed 5m/min and lift of 10m and preparing Bill of Material.
Design includes Rope, Sheave, Bearing , Axle, Hook, Thrust Bearing, Nut, Cross piece, Shackle Plate, Drum, Hoisting motor, drum shaft, Bearing for drum shaft.
A snatch block is essentially a pulling block assembly which is used specifically to increase the load pulling capacity of a winch. A Snatch Block is a pulley system to aid with winching.
All the design calculation carried out were referenced from PSG Design Data Book.
The Design was completed in following Steps:
1. Selection of no. of fall and pulley system.
2. Selection of Rope.
2.1. Finding max. tension in the rope
2.2. Rope Selction
2.3. Rope Life Calculation
3. Selection of Pulley/Sheave.
3.1. Calculating Speed of SHeave
3.2. Selection of Bearing
4. Design of Axle.
5. Design of Hook.
5.1. Design of Nut for Hook
5.2. Selection of Bearing for Hook
6. Design of Crosspiece.
7. Design of Shackle Plate.
8. Design of Drum.
9. Selection of Motor.
10. Design of Drum Shaft.
11. Selection of bearing for Drum.

All the designs were checked for the failures possible in the component (tensile failure, crushing, double shear, etc.).
